I love my Earth

At Pixnat, we believe in the environment protection and we have been acting for years. It is not always easy to resist to facility and new technology toys but being concerned consummers, we discovered we can act for the Earth without compromissing with our confort zone. From really simple daily acts, we can do a lot to save our planet. Don't wait for others, act now and together we will work to save our world for the next generations. Without noticing it, we are killing a lot of endangered species. It is time to do something before it is really to late.

Technology. By switching computers off when we don't need them, we reduce our energy consumption. We also buy computers that we'll be able to work with for years. We keep our cell phones until they actually die. Do you really need that cheap camera in your phone? That looks cool. Sure, but watch out this cool place: computers cemetery: high toxic depot that we send to India, Nigeria and third world countries.

3 R. Recycling is not the answer for everything. Reduce, Re-use, Recycle. Recycle comes in third position, not first. Before you buy something ask yourself if you really need it or not. Then you are better buy something a bit more expensive but that will last longer, so less to recycle. Try not to buy those cheap items in ''dollar stores'' or elsewhere. They are poor quality made from petrol and those plastic do pollute a lot. Buy less but better. For fun, try to inventory all thoses things you bought and don't use , now calculate the amount of $ it represents, I'm pretty sure you could have gone to a nice place with friends or family or lovers. Spending time doing an activity always leave a better memory than another goods that will last not that long.

Water. We spend quite a time underwater and unfortunately wherever we go, it is always the same thing, less and less fish, and more pollution. It is not because we don't see what's underwater that it doesn't exist. Oceans, water is not a garbage and think about it, wathever you throw into your sink at home will come back to you sooner or later. ONE DROP OF WATER CAN POLLUTE 25 LITERS OF WATER. Don’t worry if the savings are minimal. Every drop counts. And every person can make a difference.

Compost. Our business is located near downtown Montreal, but we do have a micro garden. It is so great to have some of our own products at lunch time. Tomatoes, cucumbers, rasperries, strawberries and much more. At the end of the garden, we made a wooden box from falls around, in it we do our own compost that we use in the garden. With recycle bin and compost, you should see how small the garbage bag is now. What comes from earth returns to it. Nothing disappears, so we'd better transform things in a positive way.

Paper. We prefer to use tissue instead of paper towel. On top of that, we reduce the use of the printer not only for paper but because of the pollution of ink. Did you know that it takes an entire adult tree to produce 54kg of paper. How fast do we consumme 54kg with: newspapers, magazines, paper towels, paper ads...

Transport. We used to love our 4x4, especially in winter time. We do carry so much equipment but we changed it for a 2x4, same storage space and we lower the gas needs so forth the carbon foot print. Yeah, I must admit that during the last snow storm, I thought about my great 4x4, but that only happens 3 or 4 times a year. So...

Eco-centre. In basically every town, you can found eco-centers that will take your dangerous domestic residue. Don't hesitate. Keep your old batteries in a box and from time to time take a journey to the eco-center. We bring them old items we do not need anymore and buy sometimes stuff from them. Last year we did find a great BC fir door for one of the room. We worked a bit on it and it looks like an antique door. Really neat.
